How to make a proper cup of herbal Tea

Why Preparation Matters for Herbal Tea Effectiveness

Everyday Brewing Tips for Herbal Tea

  • Always make in a closed container e.g. a mug covered with a saucer, a teapot or (my personal favourite) a cafetière.
  • Use 1 heaped tsp of tea per cup.
  • Always begin with freshly boiled water.
  • Infuse for at least 15 min, ideally 30 minutes or longer Let it steep long enough to fully extract the plant's active compounds.
  • You can top up your herbs throughout the day with more hot water - just allow extra infusing time, and always keep it covered.
  • Always use new dry herbs the following day.

How to Make Herbal Iced Tea

  • Every blend can be enjoyed chilled - especially useful for those navigating menopausal heat.
  • Brew your blend as usual with freshly boiled water.
  • Let it cool, then pour over ice.
  • you can sweeten it naturally, or sip it bare - just as the plants intended.

How to Prepare Concentrated Herbal Tea

  • Prepare as usual, but only use a small amount of freshly boiled water-  just enough to cover the herbs.
  • Your tea will be strong, effective and beautifully concentrated.
  • This method works beautifully with "Sleep" tea but any blend can be prepared in this way.
