Perhaps you've recently been diagnosed with ADHD, autism or AuDHD, and suddenly parts of your life make more sense. Or perhaps you've understood that your mind works differently for years.
But knowing why certain things are difficult doesn't necessarily make poor sleep, anxiety, exhaustion or everyday overwhelm disappear.
I'm Dellna Illavia, a Registered Medical Herbalist (MNIMH) based in Cobham, Surrey. I offer personalised herbal medicine for adults who want to look after their health in a way that takes account of how they experience the world.
You might have a hundred things going around in your head but struggle to get started on one of them. You remember something important at the wrong moment, forget to eat because you're absorbed in what you're doing, or spend half the evening thinking about everything you still need to do.
Perhaps you manage well at work but come home completely exhausted. Conversations, noise, unexpected changes and other people's expectations can take more energy than anyone around you realises.
And then there's sleep. You can be physically tired, yet find that your mind doesn't seem ready to stop.
Everyone's experience of ADHD and autism is different. Some people struggle with sensory overload, others with anxiety, poor sleep, emotional intensity or the effort of constantly adapting to their surroundings.
You may have developed ways of managing these things over many years, but that doesn't mean they aren't taking a toll on your health.
My approach begins with understanding you.
As a medical herbalist, I'm interested in the connections between your nervous system, sleep, digestion, energy, stress, physical health and everyday life.
During a consultation, we look at your medical history, medications, sensitivities, nutrition, current symptoms and the particular demands you're living with.
From there, I consider whether individually selected herbal medicines, nutritional advice and practical lifestyle changes may be appropriate for your health concerns.
The treatment plan needs to be realistic. If you're already struggling to manage work, family and everyday responsibilities, giving you another complicated routine isn't necessarily going to help.
We work with your circumstances, review how you're responding and adjust the approach when needed.
The aim isn't to make you think or behave like somebody else. It's to give your health the attention and professional support it deserves.

ADHD and autism are not illnesses that need curing, and herbal medicine isn't an established treatment for their core characteristics.
But being neurodivergent doesn't mean that poor sleep, anxiety, digestive problems, nervous tension or exhaustion should simply be accepted as part of everyday life.
These are health concerns that deserve attention in their own right.
As a Registered Medical Herbalist, I look at how your nervous system, physical health and everyday circumstances may be affecting one another.
Depending on your individual needs and medical history, herbal medicine may have a role in supporting particular health concerns. The evidence varies between herbs and conditions, so treatment needs to be selected carefully.
If you're taking ADHD medication, antidepressants or other prescribed medicines, I consider potential interactions and contraindications before recommending herbs or supplements.
My approach is to work alongside appropriate conventional healthcare, not replace it. The aim is to help you find ways of looking after your health that make sense for your body and your life.
Neurodivergence isn't simply an area of professional interest for me. It's been part of my life and family for many years.
I have ADHD myself, although my formal diagnosis came later in life. I've also raised and home-educated neurodivergent children, so I understand how differently ADHD, autism and AuDHD can shape everyday experiences.
I know how much energy can go into trying to meet expectations that don't suit the way your mind works. But I also know how extraordinary different minds can be, with their creativity, curiosity, imagination and individual ways of understanding the world.
Herbal medicine has been an important part of supporting my own health and that of my family for many years. I've also worked with neurodivergent clients in my clinical practice.
Alongside that personal experience, I bring over 30 years' experience in health and herbal medicine, with training in medical sciences and a BSc in Herbal Medicine.
I understand that ADHD, autism and AuDHD aren't all the same. Some people experience particular difficulties with attention and organisation, others with sensory demands, communication, emotional overwhelm or competing needs for routine and stimulation.
What matters to me is understanding the individual, rather than making assumptions based on a diagnosis.
You can value the way your mind works and still want help with the things that make everyday life difficult. That's something I understand both personally and professionally.

We begin with an in-depth herbal medicine consultation, where I take time to understand your health, your medical history and the difficulties you're experiencing in everyday life.
We'll look at your sleep, energy, digestion, nutrition, stress, medications and individual sensitivities. We'll also talk about how ADHD, autism or AuDHD may affect your routines, sensory needs and ability to manage everyday demands.
From there, I'll develop a personalised herbal and lifestyle plan, using carefully selected herbal medicines where appropriate.
I know that managing appointments, remembering to take medicines or keeping up with complicated routines can sometimes be difficult. That's why I aim to make your treatment as practical and manageable as possible.
For ongoing care, I recommend my 3-Month Herbal Foundation Package.
This includes an initial consultation, three follow-up appointments, regular treatment reviews and WhatsApp support between appointments.
Having that continuity means we can see how you're responding, make adjustments where needed and work together without expecting you to manage everything alone.
The package costs £397 for three months of personalised care. Herbal medicines are charged separately.
Consultations are available online across the UK or in Cobham, Surrey.
Perhaps you've recently been diagnosed with ADHD, autism or AuDHD, or you're only beginning to understand why certain things have always felt so difficult.
